Spring Awakening -Best Musical Ever?

After seeing the likes of RENT and Billy Elliot in recent years, I thought that the task of creating a better musical to appeal to young adults would be an almost impossible task. But oh was I wrong! After seeing it being performed on 90210(which is shite, I know) I was instantly intrigued by “Spring Awakening” A few google searches later and I then knew of a highly successful, Tony winning musical which had broken many records along with boundaries on Broadway.

Based on a previously banned and highly controversial German play, Written by the infamous Frank Wedekind, the musical, set in 1891 was an instant hit. The secret- The infectious and modern pop- rock soundtrack with the perfect blend of up tempo show-stoppers and emotionally charged ballads. The acting ain’t half bad either!!

Last month I went to see Spring Awakening in London after much anticipation, and I was not disappointed! Ill leave you on a final note of advice- If you are going to see one musical this year, see SPRING AWAKENING!!!

  1. I really want to see this.

If you happen to be in London again, I’d seriously recommend ‘Avenue Q’ as well. I’ve seen quite a few Broadway/West End shows but Avenue Q is my favourite.

Also, be sure to check out Rent in the Olympia next month. I helped with the costumes for the show and can vouch for it’s amazingness.

    • Ya id highly reccommed it. Never seen such an energetic show. As in the olympia in Dublin? I love rent but have only seen the movie version:(

      • Yup. It’s in Dublin. It was put on in The Helix by DCU Drama in March but the reaction was so good that The Olympia asked them to do a week in June.

I didn’t particularly like the movie but I love the show.

      • will do!:)

      • Ya ill try to see that if i can! Hey i think it was off your blog that I heard Esser. Great song “Headlock”
